Sterling Trucks

Sterling Trucks is a manufacturer of heavy duty trucks. Sterling is a subsidiary of Freightliner LLC. As such, it is a member of the DaimlerChrysler auto-group. It was originally the heavy truck division of Ford Motor company, purchased and rebranded in 1997. Headquarted in Willoughby, Ohio, it conventional trucks are build in St. Thomas, Ontario, while other are assembled in Santiago, Mexico and Charleston, South Carolina. Sterling-brand trucks are sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company specializes in vocational trucks - those that are designed to perform jobs other than straight freight hauling. Examples include garbage trucks, dump trucks, concrete mixers, tanker trucks, and snowplows.
