Pila, Laguna

Many years ago, when the Philippines was not yet discovered by the Spaniards, the eastern north part of now the town of Victoria, Laguna was known to be the original site of the present town of Pila. This portion of land coincides with historic events was at that time called "Pagalangan".
The town got its name "PILA" this way: one sultry day, while the Franciscan missionaries were strolling around the new site, they saw a queue of "punso" or ant hills on their way, and thus they dubbed the town "Villa de Pila" and thereafter, it has been known as such.
