Neris

Neris (The
Lithuanian name; within the territory of
Belarus it is called
Ві́лія (
Viliya,
Vilia); and the
Wilia in
Polish language) is a river rising in
Belarus, flowing through
Vilnius (
Lithuania) and becomes a tributary of the
Neman River (Nemunas) in
Kaunas (Lithuania). The length is 510 km.
Neris connects two old Lithuanian capitals - Kernave and Vilnius. Along its banks were burial places of the pagan lithuanians. 25 km from Vilnius there are the old burial mounds of Karamzynai. There are many mythological stones, and a sacred oak.
