According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 338 km² (130 mi²). 335 km² (129 mi²) of it is land and 3 km² (1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.93% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 95.84% White, 2.72% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.There are 2,211 households out of which 30.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.10% are married couples living together, 7.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.70% are non-families. 21.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
