Majlis-e-Shoora

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Majlis-e-Shoora means "Council of Advisors" in Urdu, one of the two official languages of the government of Pakistan, which has a bicameral federal legislature that consists of the Senate (upper house) and the National Assembly (lower house). According to Article 50 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the National Assembly, the Senate and the President together make up a body known as the Majlis-e-Shoora.

The Constitution gives the President of Pakistan the authority to dissolve (and thereby trigger new elections for) the National Assembly but not the Senate, which is not subject to dissolution.
