Hilbre Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

There are three main islands, named locally Little Eye, Middle Eye and Big Eye. The term Hilbre Island used alone refers to Big Eye.
Little and Middle Eyes are both unpopulated, Big Eye has a few houses where the Warden of the islands lives. The Islands are said to be named after St Hildeberg and can be reached at low tide from the coastal towns of West Kirby and Hoylake. The route from Hoylake has, in recent years, been closed because of the dangers of being caught by the tide and visitors are advised to set out from West Kirby.
