Geography
Bethel Springs is located at 35°14'15" North, 88°36'41" West (35.237378, -88.611429){}.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 763 people, 317 households, and 219 families residing in the town. The population density is 133.3/km² (345.2/mi²). There are 347 housing units at an average density of 60.6/km² (157.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 85.58% White, 13.50% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.There are 317 households out of which 30.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% are married couples living together, 12.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% are non-families. 28.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the town the population is spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 86.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.7 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $27,500, and the median income for a family is $33,750. Males have a median income of $26,500 versus $19,792 for females.
